Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Brooklyn Borough Hall to open a brand-new lactation lounge in New York City’s largest Breastfeeding Empowerment Zone.
“Our new Lactation Lounge is suited to encourage greater breastfeeding amongst mothers that live in, work in, and visit the Downtown Brooklyn area, a hub of public life for our city,” said Adams. “We know that breastfeeding is a crucial component of a healthy young life, a natural act that strengthens both mother and child. My office is committed to advancing this public health imperative, and the Lactation Lounge is a permanent space to further that commitment.”
Studies show that breastfeeding has significant health benefits for both mother and child, protecting infants from bacteria and viruses as well as resulting in fewer ear, respiratory and urinary tract infections. New York, May 21, 2013 — Delta Children, a 45-year old family business, donated new cribs—valued at $60,000—to Caring For Others, Inc. in Atlanta, GA earlier today. This donation was part of the company's Safe Sleep Campaign, an educational initiative backed with a commitment to give away $1,000,000 worth of cribs to families in need nationwide.
The cribs were given to pre-registered families through Caring For Others, a human services organization, which facilitates economically disadvantaged individuals. The donation was made possible via the help of K.I.D.S, a non-profit organization that connects companies and children in need.
NEW YORK, April 2013—Delta Children and Kids in Distressed Situations (K.I.D.S.) makes another stop on their nationwide "Safe Sleep" tour to offer free cribs to families in need and spread the message of "Safe Sleep." NEW YORK, February 2013—Delta Children, the world's largest manufacturer of nursery furniture led by Co-President Joseph Shamie and K.I.D.S. (Kids in Distressed Situations), led by Chris Blake, will donate 200 new cribs—valued at $60,000—to Baby Buggy for distribution in Los Angeles. Additionally Baby Buggy will donate 200 mattresses valued at $14,000. On February 7th, a Safe Sleep demonstration will be held at Children's Institute, Inc., a Baby Buggy site, where cribs and mattresses will be distributed to families in need.
